Governance & Organisational Principles

How METC governs its work, handles information, and applies technology responsibly within client organisations.

Governance Principles

Engagements are defined in writing, with agreed scope, deliverables and review points before work begins.

Organisational Accountability

Each engagement has a named METC lead who is accountable for quality, communication and delivery.

Privacy and Data Responsibility

Client information is used only for the engagement it was provided for, and access is limited to those who require it.

Responsible Automation and AI

Automated and AI-supported processes are documented, reviewable and subject to human accountability.

Responsible Transformation

Change Should Be Deliberate, Documented and Reversible Where Possible.

Transformation affects how people work. METC treats that as a governance responsibility, not only a delivery consideration.

  • Scope, assumptions and constraints are recorded before implementation begins.
  • Process changes are documented so the organisation retains understanding of its own operations.
  • Where a change carries operational risk, a fallback position is defined in advance.
  • Recommendations state clearly what is expected to improve, and what is not addressed.
  • METC declines work where the proposed approach is unlikely to be adopted or sustained.
Automation & AI

Principles for Automation and Artificial Intelligence.

Automation and AI change who — or what — performs a task. Accountability for the outcome remains with the organisation.

  • A person remains accountable for any output that influences a decision.
  • Automated rules are documented, named and owned by a defined role.
  • AI-supported outputs are reviewed before they are relied upon in client-facing or financial contexts.
  • Data used for AI-supported processes is agreed with the client, including where it is processed.
  • Where a task requires judgement, context or discretion, it is not automated.
  • Performance of automated processes is reviewed rather than assumed.
Commitment

Practical and Ethical Implementation.

A short statement of the standards METC holds itself to in client engagements.

METC does not present technology capability as a substitute for organisational readiness. Where an organisation is not yet in a position to adopt a proposed change, we say so and recommend the preparatory work instead.

We do not publish client names, case details or engagement outcomes without written approval. Where references are required, they are provided directly and with consent.

METC is an independent organisation. It is not a government agency and does not represent itself as acting on behalf of any government body.

Where our recommendation is that no transformation work is required, that is a valid outcome of an assessment.

Next Step

Discuss governance expectations with METC.

If your organisation has specific governance, procurement or data-handling requirements, these can be addressed before an engagement is scoped.
